In preparation for his forthcoming Gold Gone Wild 2 tour, A-Trak has released Action, a futuristic trap banger featuring tourmates Ape Drums and MPC sampler wizard AraabMuzik.
Although the clapping builds and warpin synth melody feel pretty par for the course, the key to this track is AraabMuzik’s work on the sampler. There are moments in Action that literally appear out of nothing, like basslines dropping with echoing sweeps that can only happen when someone has them a fingertip away. If you’re looking for a showcase of the sudden inspiration that drives an AraabMuzik live set, you need look no further–this should serve as a solid preview of what’s to come on tour.
